Song Origin: I began writing the lyrics to “Shadow,” originally named “I Love My Shadow,” on the Mountains-to-Sea Trail in North Carolina, where I had hitch hiked to after class one day to walk until I felt sane. I was deep in the muck of my first depression and had to radically rebuild myself
through embracing my dark sides. I had to relearn how to accept myself and be my own best friend in order to see that I am good enough, worthy, and lovable throughout all of my imperfections and strengths (Swannanoa, NC, U.S.A, 2015).
